I would guess holes through the firewall and floor without a good seal.

What happened to Ford Explorers. I thought they were being recalled for CO entering the cabin.

Negative. Nobody has been able to measure CO levels above expected background levels. They did however start a service program for customers complaining of exhaust smells, and they published a bulletin for Police Interceptors to to ID and fix improper body modification.

Latest news story now mentions it as "police modified" Explorers.

I wonder what they did to modify it that they are getting the CO?

Not much CO if the catalytic converter is working.

Door latches very similar to that design have been used on pretty much ALL Ford US products for well over 10 years. Sounds like it was "cost reduced".

I have a 2016 Explorer Sport. No recall, and I've never experienced any smells etc.

๐Ÿ™‚ Hi, on the F-150 forums, there are plenty of complaints about door latches. A recall is welcomed. This does not effect my 2014 model.
