So true but I can honestly say I have never had a bike stolen with it locked nor a hitch. I can say I did have two bikes stolen from in front of my house left unlocked. :M

He said it's NOT needed with his system. Pay attention. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You may want to consider fabricating some mechanical locking latches when the unit is in the upright position so the load is not being supporting via the wench.

Edit... I just saw your video with the locking latches. Very nice! Put in a locking pin and your good to go.

You have to watch this video to see how the automatic latch works.
I had watched that video before but forgot about the cantilever design, and it wasn't easily visible from the pics. That should hold things in place.

Good deal, I assumed you had it all figured out. Really would like to see it in person some day.

VERY cool!

Are you going to have some sort of safety pin besides?

The latches are designed such that it would be virtually impossible for them to open from the bike bouncining....to unlatch the locks, the arms need to raise while manually pushing the lock levers... Continuous pressure on the lock lever is required while the arms start lowering to fully release the latch. Additionally two springs are utilized to hold the latch tight against the lock pins.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am quite pleased with the way it is turning out so far, however, I am taking my time building this thing. Yesterday I spent hours just fabricating the pulley blocks. Right now I am second guessing my decision of buying a cheap Canadian Tire winch. Since purchasing this winch I have been reading of other's who have had various problems with it. Saving $200 by purchasing a cheap winch won't feel worth it if I'm left screwing around somewhere trying to get six guys rounded up to manually raise the bike. ... or worse yet having it break and drop the bike on someone. I've asked for some advice on an ATV forum but I'm thinking the next step is going to be replacing the winch with a quality unit.
