Hitch Height on OVR 2xx Series TTs with Off-Road x4 Susp Pkg

Made some quick measurements at the dealer, unfortunately none of their trailers were very level so I had to transpose some of the measurements. I measured a hitch height of approx. 28-29 inches, which would require a Cat V (2.5") receiver hitch with about 5-6 inches of rise on my '16 Ram 3500 SRW which has a receiver approx. 24" high (measured from the top of the opening). That's quite a bit of rise! I assumed 1 - 1 1/2" of sag with 1,200 lbs. of tongue weight. Get approx. 3" sag with 3,000 lbs. of pin weight.

For those folks towing the larger OVR TT's with the Off-Road x4 Suspension (with 235/80/16 tires), does that sound about right?

Thanks!

Thanks for the link. They're quoting a hitch height of 31" - 34" in this thread!! Do they make receiver hitches with a 10" rise?! :E

Yes, this Blue Ox has 10.5" of rise and fits a 2" receiver. This one fits a 2.5" and has 10" of rise. Some other posters have mentioned that having a 2" with a sleeve can be useful if you need a tow because the tow companies vehicle might not have a 2.5" receiver.

I have a ORV 240RBS. The measurement to the top of the couple is 30". My TV is a Chevy 1500hd. I put a 6" rise on the shank to set up my hitch to 1" or so short of level.
From the brochure online, the x4 suspension add another 2" to the overall TT height. IMHO, those TT you're looking at would need a shank with 8" rise if your receiver height is only 24". Just be careful when opening the tailgate with the hitch on or you might put a dent on it.
These hitches are apparently much higher than I expected. Thanks for the warning about the tailgate. That would have been easy to forget about.
