I am in yuma right now.

When I look to the west the mountains have a little haze at the base but visibility is way over 30 miles as I can clearly see Picacho peak.

What I am seeing very well could be smog from downtown Yuma as I am to the East of yuma 10 miles and looking at mountains to the west of Yuma.

If you can see Picacho Peak from Yuma the visibility is way, way, way over 30 miles.

You may be confused with the Picacho peak near Tucson.

The one I can see Is just over the border in California.

Santa Ana winds go east to west - not a problem for those east of the fires.

We are in Borrego Springs California, "on the other side of the hill" and it's about 3 hours north west of Yuma. No smoke here, the closest fire is in north San Diego county, not too far from here.

In Yuma right now. No smoke. Santa Anna winds blow down from the mountains and out to sea.
