Most pumps for trucks at truck stops have a larger diameter nozzle to accommodate larger volume of fuel to fill tank faster so don’t use those as the nozzle won’t fit in your fill inlet. Most truck stops have an RV or pickup island or at the auto pumps most diesel pumps are on the outside island
I have a 14 year old truck and the big ones fit my inlet.

The large diesel nozzles fit my 2002 Ford F250 and fit my 2016 Ram CTD just fine. The thing to watch out for is trying to fill too fast so it doesn't back up and make a mess on the pavement.[emoticon]

I dont ever fuel up with 5er attached. So I can pick the cheapest and just drive the truck in without worry about can I get out or not. It sure is nice to have a 50 gal aux fuel tank

Driving around empty looking for fuel is not my idea of saving $. Life is too short to worry about a few $ here and there IMHO.

Two reasons for us having an extra 55 gal inbed fuel tanks is we can fuel where we want and have an easier in and out plus if bad fuel happens we don't fill both tanks at the same place so might have to change the fuel filter and good to go using the other tank. This has not happened but I like to have a plan.

If I had an in bed fuel tank it would put me over my RAWR of 9.750# that I run at loaded. Then the weight police would have a good reason to slam me.

I just use the pump at the normal pump islands. I dont really care about the price, it is what it is and they are usually right off the highway, have plenty of room in the parking lot to get in and out, or park and have lunch without bothering anyone.
