It's a good motor, fits the bigger truck better than the 5.7 .. no complaints with my 6.4, but I'm pulling a feather compared to 38 ft 5r

Sounds good running wide open in 2nd gear up a grade. Diesel guys have their low end grunt, I like the sound of high rpm torque [emoticon]

Guzzler of fuel when it's working hard.

Some 38'-39' 5th wheel trailers are too heavy for any gas engine. Anyways.. gas or diesel trucks pull trailer determined by weight... not how long it is.
What is the trailers gvwr or loaded GVW if you weighed it ?
I see where many rv folks with any brand one ton DRW gasser bit into those big 14k-17k tow ratings and were disappointed in the hills and high wind areas.

There are pro's and con's to both gas and diesel, it will work fine, if you live in the mountains it just takes a little longer to get up the hills, but you won't need to worrie about running out of DEF, or half way up going into a regen mode.

Wish Ram could beef up the parking paw on the 8 speed so they could run it behind a SRW 2500 6.4. Anybody have big miles on one?

Biggest advantage is it will be CHEAP to buy. Biggest disadvantage is it’ll only pull marginally better than your 5.7 and will appear to pull hard right every time you’re approaching a gas station if it has a 38’ 5ver on the pin.

Don't think my trucks have ever regenerated while towing. No need in it.[emoticon]

As far as DEF goes. I would worry about running out of gas more than I do DEF. [emoticon]
