Driving down the freeway got the message for low fuel pressure. Few seconds later in to limp mode. Barely got off the freeway safely. AAA towed my truck to the Dealer. My HPFP grenaded at 9300 miles!! Took the injectors with it along with a myriad of other junk. And I do mean JUNK. 2016 Suer Duty with 9300 miles!!! Run nothing but Chevron diesel from a high volume station.

I'm done!! Back to gas!! Don't care if I only climb the mtns at 45 MPH!!! :M:M:M

Oh yeah...I am still around..but a very busy work schedule keeps me from replying much...plus I just saw this thread today...I am glad that the OP got his truck fixed under warranty...but that doesn't make my story less important or true...I quit beating the dead horse a long time ago...and won't go there now...

On another front, an unfortunate accident took out my 06 DuraMax Dually...that was a good truck... I have placed a deposit on a mint condition 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie Dually, 6.7 Cummins with Aisin transmission...36000 miles and buying from the original purchaser...never seen snow, salt or gravel roads...always kept under cover...

Congrats to the Op on his good fortune...

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I just sold our 2006 f350 diesel, no more diesel for me, just bought a 2017 f250 gas 6.2. Here in California diesel is about 50 cents higher than gas. No more $120.00 oil changes and cleaning or replacing “EGR” valves or changing fuel filters.

Congrats on the new to you truck!! Can't get much more dependable than 17 F250 gas 6.2!

Jerry

THAT would be the engine of choice if I bought a Ford HD. But don't they require maintenance also?

Very little...mostly just kick the tires after 8-10 gas fills and GO!

I bought my SuperDuty just for the great MIRRORS!!! :C As it turned out the strong engine, and fantastic tranny were just a bonus.

😉 as a Nissan owner (Infiniti) I can confirm, they are man made, the manufacturer is not perfect, and they break down too.

Check out the sales totals, and you will see why there is not a lot complaints on them, there is not many being sold.

I have a guy at work that has one. He likes it for what it is, he did not want to spend all the money on an HD/SD. He took advantage of steep end of year Nissan discounts so there was a greater spread between the full power diesels and the Nissan.

Really? Everything everywhere has changed since then! That’s like saying I bought my last bag of charcoal 20 years ago because it had a couple broken pieces in it.

Yep, one piece of junk Ford was plenty.

So what are you going to do when you get a piece of junk Ram?

On a 2000??? NEVER heard of such a thing. Newer truck maybe but a 2000 just from running straight ULSD I am in serious doubt.

Don't be, The older truck were not set up to run on ULSD and require an additive to keep them alive. I took my truck in when the ULSD came out because I noticed a marked increase in the engine. I was told by the Cummins shop right next door to a large Ram dealer. They adjusted the valve lash and told me if I wanted the truck to last to start using a lubricant in the truck. The gentleman that worked on my truck told me to buy the cheapest trans fluid I could find and a a quart to every tank of fuel. I went with a after market lube instead. I will tell you that if I didn't add it to the fuel with in 1/4 of a tank I could hear the difference in how the truck sounded.

Don

It aint gonna happen!

Sure the pump may wear faster but that would not cause three injectors of that era to take out 3 pistons.

BIGGEST thing a person can do is have a GOOD lift pump to keep the VP44 alive. NEVER Heard of one taking out injectors.

If you really want to "lube" a pre 07.5 truck's injection system add a quart of 2 cycle oil to each tank. It's designed to lubricate and burn.

Well I lost 7 injectors in a Duramax which in turn caused me to wash one of those cylinders and lose compression. Perhpas not the same as above, but if your injector suffers a catastrophic failure it could happen.
