Blutoyz Going 95 to 287 is REALLY a traffic jam from New Haven to 287. I can go 84 to Tappen Zee then 287 to 78W and 13S is a familiar route as I have a nephew in Leesburg VA just thought going that way added LOTS of miles and time. Definitely want it to be a two day trip just west of Boston, MA to Myrtle Beach SC.

Depends on your time of day...95 in Milford CT is no worse than 84 through waterbury and there are some serious grades after danbury.

15 does add miles but it is a much nicer ride than 95

Commercial vechiles,Motorhomes, trucks and busses are not allowed on route 15.

I think you are thing CT (Merritt pkwy), I am talking 15 in PA. You sure wouldn't want an RV on the Merritt in CT...lol

Ok got it I saw new haven and Milford and was thinking Merritt

2 days is a nice relaxing pace, I think my route on the trip planner added 3 hours total but saved so much nasty traffic and road construction I saw it as time well spent. 78 is a little bumpy but that was really it. The new Tapanzee is nice just stay out of the right lane right now (all traffic is on one bridge) and you will avoid the storm drains (more nasty bumps)

Underpasses are also very low. Have seen tractor trailers back up for miles with police escort to get off.

Traffic starts when you enter new haven. A lot of merging traffic then picks up until exit 38 merit parkway(route 15)depending on time of day the sun is brutal in this area and drivers freak out. Then good until you get close to ny border. Again all depends on time of day. It is possible to not hit any traffic at all and fly through.

Can't seem to find where you are getting on 74 near charlotte.found 77 to 485.

As you are coming into Charlotte, exit 19 off 77 will put you on 485. 485 (exit 51B) will connect with 74 on the southern end. Another alternative (depending on traffic) would be to continue on 77 thru Charlotte and take the W Brookshire Freeway (I277) which will connect to 74 heading east. 74 is pretty much 4 lane all the way to I95. You do have to go through Monroe, NC which has some traffic lights but once past that, it is pretty much like interstate highway.

I travel I-95 from NC to Baltimore a couple of times a month and can tell you from recent experience that any way you avoid I-95 will make you happy. The suggested I-81 to I-77 to rt 74 in Charlotte is the best way except I hit 501 in Laurinburg and it takes you all the way to MB. If you pay attention you can turn right at the 301 light and come out on 501 at South of the Border where I think the y run together. Anyway 501 takes you all the way to Myrtle. Hope this helps. By the way you can miss Charlotte by going down I-73 74 (just after Va - NC State line) all the way to rt 74 below Rockingham. Its all good 4 lane road and will save a lot of time.

I didn't see where in MA you are starting but out of RI I found 95 - 287 (tapanzee) then stay on 287 - 78W - then get to 15S in Harrisburg to be really a relaxing drive.

I see you are good sam so the trip planner will let you plan stops. I think Prince William RV park is open year round and is easy in out for an overnight with hookups if you want

If you want to miss all the big city traffic and want an easy, scenic drive take I-84 W to I-81 S to I-77 S to Columbia,SC then US 378 E to Myrtle Beach. Not the most direct route but does miss all the major city headaches and most all of the tolls.

I go down 91 to 84 west to Newburgh,NY ,then south on 87 to Sufferin,NY and pickup 287 for 45 miles to 78 west ...stay on 78 to 81 west to Winchester,Va and pickup 66 toward DC...to rt 17 around Warrenton,Va to 95 south ,which is just north of Richmond...C

140 extra miles is about 20 gallons of fuel about $70.00 you would be close to that in tolls.on 95.
