I've never understood why folks get so bent over the rodent seeing his shadow, don't get me wrong, I hate winter, BUT Spring is exactly 6 weeks & 4 days away, whether or not the little varmint even opens his eyes. [emoticon] [emoticon]

I guess I'm lucky....Where I live, there are no groundhogs. One can't see its shadow, if there aren't any groundhogs.

I do believe that our spring will be slightly warmer/earlier than last year. The prevailing winds have been from the south west this year. At the same time last year, the prevailing winds were from the north east and were much colder. I have also seen my first robin already. I usually don't see one until April or May.

I really like the movie. I can watch it over and over again and over....
However, I have never really understood this Groundhog thing. If he sees his shadow, there'll be six more weeks of winter (Or is it the other way around?) So what does that mean? If the Sun is out when they bring him out, he could see his shadow and that's it? Or if it's cloudy, no Sun, no shadow?

Shadow = 6 more weeks of winter (he runs back to his burrow frightened)
No Shadow = not scared, will come out of burrow early

So yes, if the sun is out it's 6 more weeks of winter, if not it means an early spring. All complete hogwash but fun anyway. Except for the year that the handler got bitten-that was FUNNY!

Actually, I had a few relatives that thought they were very tasty, although I don't think they ever made stew out of them, but, with them being vegetarians, I don't know why they wouldn't make a good stew. [emoticon]
