Relay

I'm going to replace the fan relay but it appears to be spot welded to the inner drivers side of the firewall under the engine bonnet just forward of the A/C pump. Here's a pic...

How do you get it off the bracket? This is a 1994 P30 chassis Fleetwood Southwind Storm 28ft 454TBI w/4L80E trans.

On page 27 of the service manual it shows: https://www.gmcmi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/P30-Chassis-Manual.pdf

1. Electrical relay

2. Fan relay

Where are these located?

Much appreciated. Here's a pic of my fan...https://www.dropbox.com/s/oilh4kcssl2dkcn/IMG_0411%5B1%5D.JPG?dl=0

Generally they just lift off the socket but there may be a latch you need to depress or lift depending on the latch. Photo not detailed and at a bad angle and shaded so can not tell from photo. Never found one Spot Welded though I have seen em welded to a bracket you remove screws from.

Oh and modern vehicles have several identical or nearly identical relays, Blower (2) Fuel pump (1) Aux fan (1 or 2) and more

One Relay is SPST NO and the other is SPDT and usually you can use the 2nd to replace the 1st (but the reverse is not true.)

This relay was slid on to a bracket that was tack welded to the firewall. No screws involved. Anyhow a new one has replaced the old. The fan motor is on the way.

I *think* the relay will slip off that metal bracket if forced upwards. Try rocking it side to side as you lift. It has little tabs that keep it on that you have to overcome.

Yes...I had to slide a very long slim screwdriver behind it to pry the tab away so it can be slid off. Have a new A/C condenser fan coming. I wired my to the battery with some test leads and it was not running.

Also is it the relay for the fan only? Because I also see the same relay for fuel pump in Rockauto.

If I understand what you are asking, a relay can be used for many different things. I have seen relays like that send Power to starters- international medium duty trucks come to mind.

Couldn't figure out how to post up the pic direct...thanks.

Any idea how to get that off the wall? It appears to be spot welded to it. Also is it the relay for the fan only? Because I also see the same relay for fuel pump in Rockauto.
