I wish it was on the door side too so we could use it with a hose to wash down the porch or the dogs paws. We've never used the outdoor shower on any RV we've ever had. I thought about changing it but it sounds like work.

Do you use a shower? If not you could cap it off and cover the hole with a door like this one:

Search Google for "Boat Hatch"

If the original housing is not reusable and you were unable to swap the new parts from the new housing to the old housing and you are unable to get a new housing the same size as the original you are going to have to make an adapter plate large enough to cover the old hole with a new hole cut to the size of the new housing.

Some possible choices of material would be stainless steel plate, aluminum plate. Another would be King Starboard.

King Starboard is a plastic material that comes in various sizes and thicknesses and can be purchased from places like West Marine or www.boatoutfitters.com. It is used for various boat repairs and I think it might also be used for building dashboards and consoles.

Is the original housing still usable? Perhaps just move the fittings to the old housing?

Way I see it, you have two choices to do it right.

1. Buy a trailer with a smaller hole.
2. Buy a shower that fits the hole you have.

To do it redneck, fill the extra space with some plywood.

Park the trailer on a large stack of blocks.

If it's just the hose, can you swap the old one to the new one?

What exactly is to short?

Do you mean the hose is too short? It should be possible to remove the hose and install a longer one, though exactly how to do this would depend on the exact fittings used. At the worst, you could cut the hose near one end and splice in some additional length (with the appropriate hose fittings/connectors, which I'd think would be available at home centers, hardware stores, etc.).
