I just found out by accident that my USB mobile broadband puts my IP in different states! [emoticon]

Looking for stores for Lowes it kept sending me Georgia stores.

On the left hand side of the screen it showed my IP in Georgia.
Few days latter on line it showed my IP in another different state.

And then searching around in internet settings (and I can't find it again) I found a tab in ms settings that showed my connection history. It showed me logging on from different states with one IP!

Does USB mobile broadband internet roam??
I have been using this device registered to Wisconsin and I am in Florida now.

Could be why I keep getting sent to captcha?

I have the same situation with mobile broadband. It hardly ever seems to know where I really am, and I use it exclusively at home. I too get the captcha on occasion, but for me it seems to happen when the connection is running slowly.

Made on post today before this one and got hit yet again by Captcha. When I went to make some edits, I could only post 3 - 4 words at a time to avoid it. AT one point, even one word wouldn't go through. Then weirdly, Captcha just went away for no reason. So frustrating (sighs loudly)...

What kind of internet connection do you have? I'm on a Verizon 3G/4G wireless, and when it gets crowded and slow, I'll sometimes see the captcha. Someone here (a mod? I forget...) posted that it had something to do with the rv.net servers losing track of whether the person posting is logged in.

But who knows? Apparently it is not a priority for those who run the site...

We're using 3 PCs on wifi at home and one on ethernet. I still get Captcha on the ethernet connected PC but IIRC, not quite as bad. We have a landline connection from our ISP. We're in a rural area which doesn't help and they won't bring fiber optic out here because there's not enough subscribers. We used to use the cable TV co. but they were really slow and had problems.

Got stuck by Captcha again this morning on my first post. I had to break the post down into paragraphs and on the final para. had to post one sentence at a time, and then it got worse and could only post a few words at a time. Seems like the longer a post is in total words, the higher the chance of getting stuck?

DW (the IT specialist in our house) is going to phone our internet SP after work and whine and complain about our slow internet and will ask about Captcha too and see what they have to say. Have never seen Captcha when we're camping and using Verizon mifi.

This is what Captcha is doing to me:

Mod Note: Sorry, clicked the wrong button. Nothing edited.

I doubt the length of your post will trigger Captcha challenge? I posted a 30-paragraph thread here, which did not trigger Captcha.

Verizon has nothing to do with Captcha you're seeing. It's the Forum's security service by Cloudflare that's doing so.

This appears more likely caused by your IP address? You're assigned a different IP depending on your location (DHCP) by Verizon. I would check to see if your current IP is being flagged by HoneyPot, whether it falls within an IP range others are using for Spam/Malware?

OMG!!

Here we are in a CG in OR hundreds of miles from home and the exact same CAPTCHA issue has followed me here!! We're on a laptop and using Verizon mifi.

I still continue to be plagued with CAPTCHA and it comes and goes. Some weeks it's gone and some days it's back with a vengeance. Two computers at home and now a laptop on mifi.

So, so tired of this, pffft.

I hate CAPTCHA. CAPTCHA sux. CAPTCHA is evil. CAPTCHA needs fixing.

Which portal do you use? I switched from rv.net to goodsamclub.com and most issues went away.

Been using RV.net for a number of years but will give the goodsamclub portal a try.

Just realize that it's not going to make a difference? All portals are running through Cloudflare reverse-proxy servers - which is ultimately the reason for experiencing Captcha. GS IT should experiment with reducing the Cloudflare management security level that triggers specific flags causing Captcha? Otherwise, nothing is going to change?

I can be posting fine then it suddenly comes out of nowhere. Sometimes all it takes is adding 3 words to an edit and it comes up and blocks me. Sometimes when making an edit I have to add/change a few words at a time or if lucky, one sentence at a time. Sometimes it won't let me post a link to anything. Sometimes it takes me to the part where it shows storefronts or traffic signs that I have to click on, and sometimes it doesn't. It gets really frustrating when I want to make a correction or add something and I can't or it takes forever to add a few words at a time.

EXACTLY what happens to me and continues to happen now even months later. [emoticon] This has nothing to do with whether this is a free or paid site, CAPTCHA is a total PITA and is ruining the experience completely - how can the owners / administrators of this site be so blind as to not fix this glaring problem? Not me, it's the same PITA no matter which portal I use. [emoticon]
