Since you are painting YOUR RV, can I help?

PS - Looks like a great tape job.

Sure you can help. Stop by, only have 70' of striping left to remove. You provide the grunt and I'll supply the tools. GRIN

Had a '94 Bounder that was faded pretty bad, took it down to Mexico for paint work. Here's what it looked like to begin with, kinda looks like yours as far as the vinyl striping goes:

And after:

Looks pretty nice. Did have trouble with the painters of course and over 3 years and visits to different painters, did finally get everything done to my satisfaction. First two jobs were in Mazatlan, the last one was in San Felipe, Baja.

Total cost, not counting travel expenses because I would have gone there anyway, was around $2500. Well worth the trouble.

Here's the back treatment:

I'm not talented with paint to do my own work so I admire what you've done so far and hope you keep posting as you progress.Moderator edit to re-size picture to forum recommended limit of 640px maximum width.

I'm not talented with paint either. This will be my first time with a paint gun. BUT! I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Pat,

I'm not that cheep. Don't like the taste of Beer and 2 slices of pizza a day is all I can handle. We could talk trips to boys town, south of de border. Also, the 75 birthday candles I blew out this year kinda slows me down. You coach would be out of service for a very long time.

Good start! The trick to a good job is all about how the surface is prepared. Needs to clean, scuffed, clean, and then, clean. I am always shifting around with primers. Fiberglass or plastic gets a bonding agent, too. For metals I may have found my holy grail--Sherwin Williams Industrial DTM. The bond even over just decently prepared surfaces is really strong.

Used the paint gun for the first time yesterday. Made all the rookie mistakes.
I should have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express a little longer.
Managed to clean up the sags today and apply the second coat.
Still a couple of small boo boos that I can clean up tomorrow.
So...........the gray is down and I'll tape up for the red tomorrow.
The tape seemed to pull clean of the paint. Oh happy days!
So much to do, so little time.
