Planning to be in CO and NM in late July; traveling in a Class A 40-ft motor home diesel pusher towing a Jeep - Looking for information on highway 285 and 64 Alamosa to Taos; then highway 68 and 285 Taos to Santa Fe. Any advise will be appreciated. Mainly; are these roads suitable for Class A travel. Thanks.

Do you mind mountain driving? If not, look at the "High Road" from Taos through Truchas to Santa Fe. Good road, no problems for your rig, just hilly, winding, absolutely gorgeous New Mexico scenery and tiny villages. It is where Robert Redford filmed "Milagro Beanfield War."

No problems for a 40ft DP and Jeep since that is what we have.

The worst part of that drive is driving through Taos and Santa Fe. Taos can be slow and backed up especially on the weekends.

From Alamosa to Taos you just have a high bridge over the Rio Grande Gorge.

From Taos, there is a moderate downhill a couple of curves, otherwise flat and a bit curvy.

I did the ride from Taos to Santa Fe with our rig which was a full size tractor with a then 39' 5th wheel with no issues, yes there were a few sections that were either hilly or loaded with curves but did not feel uncomfortable at all
