Gotta Love Alaska Roads

I live in Juneau, a geographic island with no roads in or out. Every summer we escape to the road system up north for a few weeks in our truck camper, but sometimes the "roads" are over-rated. This one about sent me home early.

4 years ago we did the Alaska thing. TC, trailer with a Motorcycle. All the way up to Prudhoe Bay.. "Dalton Highway". We saw two Motor Homes in Repair shops with cracked frames from hitting the heaves too fast... We had no problems, just took it easy and slow in the heaves. Surprisingly many of them were marked with flags.

You might be on a rough road when . . . . .

you have to wear a mouthguard.

the contents of your glovebox end up inside your shirt.

your GPS reports that you are in two places at once.

your white knuckles start to bleed.

Your turn!!

Trackhead. I too live in Juneau and since 1987 have spent 1 to 2 months in the interior during the summer/fall. I must say I do not recognize this stretch of road and I've driven on most (but not all) the roads on the highway system. My rig is a bit bigger than yours so this would be slow going for me.

Guess that road will clean your black tank real good. Dump in a bag of ice and you won't have any sediment stuck to the sides of your tank when you finish the drive!

It squirts out the roof vent after the 3rd heave!

I hit a mile or so of "inproved" heave, blacktop removed and gravel laid except for where the blacktop started again. There was a least a 8 inch verticle edge that I hit at 30mph. Bounced our heads off the ceiling of the truck. Thank goodness for 19.5 tires with 90lbs psi and seat belts!!
