Forgive me but I do not understand the reasoning for choosing this place when just 50 miles away is the Grande Ronde river valley with beautiful trees with nice shade, wilderness and the Blue mountains all around. Nice cooler temps in the day and at night its snuggle up temps in the low 40's high 30's in summer. Last time there it was so wonderful to escape the heat and be in the wild. Fees were only 10 bucks a night.

Nearly everyone at the rally incorporated this as part of a much longer trip, so it's nice to have power, laundry facilities, activities to do that are nearby, a facility to hold meals in, prize give-aways, etc.

One couple has been on the road 7 weeks and on their way home from Alaska.

For me, this is the first stop on a 2 week trip.

A lot of planning and thought (and research) went in to planning it at this location. The event organizers said "nearly everyone that attends a rally wants to do it at a place that has hookups." This group has organized quite a few rallies in the past and having power hookups is a number one requirement attendees always request, even though everyone here is fully equipped and capable of off-grid remote camping.

Reservations 2-years in advance are required. Three other rally groups were competing for the place. (They wanted the clubhouse too.)

The reasoning is thus: a covered group area in a rain event is needed. Tables, chairs, electric power for presentations, computers etc. is needed. The potluck dinners require lots of table space for the various dishes cooked by members. (And the food was extraordinarily good this year!)

Its asking a lot for the somebodys-in-charge to coordinate all that.

BTW; the Fall Colors Rally is fully booked.

It’s easy to criticize an organizer’s efforts until you have that job yourself - Then you realize the effort and time required to pull off a successful event. My work schedule does not allow me the time to do this, so I am even more appreciative of those that can.

It was a great gathering of new and old friends. This campground is close to the Northwood Mfg factory which allowed for a tour while they were building the Arctic Fox 990’s.

We are still hiding out in the mountains to avoid the higher temperatures, but I need to get back work until our next trip.

The Arctic Fox plant tour was enlightening.
If you are waiting for your AF TC to be delivered, it might be on the factory lot.
These are completed dealer orders ready to be shipped:
