Asking for a friend. He has a 05 travel supreme diesel pusher. Generator works fine as long as he's sitting, but as soon as he tries to drive off it shuts itself off. Thanks

Every time that has happened to me it was a dirty fuel filter. Replaced the filter and everything works fine. I carry spare ones with me. I noticed this usually happens if the generator is running when I fill the fuel tank. I let the fuel settle before I start the generator.

The remote start/stop plug can be unplugged from the generator and the generator can be started or stopped with the switch located on the generator.

If unplugging the remote solves the problem this would indicate a loose connection or a bad remote switch.

Good luck Don

And most gens are plumbed into the fuel tank at the 1/4 mark to make sure running the gen doesn't empty the tank. If he's right around that mark, driving may slosh the fuel away from the gen intake pipe.

And as others have said, low oil. Is the gen throwing a numeric error code on the display?

THe above answers are good. also it is in theory possible to put a generator in an rv in such a way it can not breath properly when moving.. Doubt that's it though.

One thing often overlooked is the Main Engine and the Generator SHARE a fuel tank. if that tank is not properly vented the more powerful fuel pump for the main engine may generate a vacuum strong enough to deny fuel to the less powerful generator fuel pump.

Rare. but I've read of it happening,

low oil, low fuel,
overheat
that up front diesel genset is liquid cooled
make sure the radiator is clean and full

one of the first two is most likely
or a bad connection
I can explain it to you.

Low on oil might do it.
Has it worked properly in the past?
