I thought I could plug the camper into the 7pin hole in the rear of the truck and the utility trailer in the 4 pin hole. Problem is only one door can be opened at a time has anyone noticed this design flaw.

Is this for a slide in camper and a trailer? If you can use a 7 pin in the bed of the truck, there is a kit you can buy to do just that. You disconnect the vehicle wiring from the 7 pin in the bumper and this special harness connects to the 7 pin and the original vehicle harness plugs into the new special harness, basically a T harness. It is several feet long and has a 7 pin on the end of it, which you mount in the bed.

Older Ram trucks have the 4 way dangling from the harness underneath the bumper.

The solution to your problem is perfectly described here.

Connect the 7way to the outlet behind the tailgate, inside the box.

Probably towing two trailer at the same time isn't a common use case.

So it's kind of a double door thing like Chevy's have/had?
I just have one door for the 7 pin and the 4 pin is hanging behind the bumper. I could easily use both at once.
