Tow Haul button location

I have a 2003 Newmar Mountainaire gas with Vortec 8.1 engine and I think Alison transmission. I am told there is a tow haul in that tranny but I cannot find the button to set it and take it off when pulling a heavy car behind me or going down a steep hill etc. Anyone know where it is? On my 2003 Duramax 2500 diesel the tow haul is on the steering column etc but cannot find it on the RV.

Didn't have a Newmar, but did have 2003 SOB with the W22 Workhorse chassis with 8.1 and Allison. As I recall, their was a switch on the dash labeled " O/D on off" or something close to that . It locked out the 5th gear overdrive and I as I recall gave you some engine braking on downgrades. You might have something similar on yours.

Boy that was not the question he doesn't have one. Some times I believe people don't read what is asked.

In my case I have the switch so, if it is not already engaged, I push the button and engage it. If it is already engaged I just leave it engaged.

the only way is shift the leaver into lower gear.

It may not have one as you are always hauling heavy weight compared to a pickup. It may be locked in by the manufacturer. And you do NOT want to disengage it going down “steep hills” as it keeps your torque converter locked to help control speed. This helps avoid the need for excessive braking. If not already engaged, I engage mine going flowing down hills!

NOT on end of stalk like my Duranax PU which is what I expected. I can call the Newmar people and see, thanks though.

I wonder if it's simply always on because it always needs the heavy use shifting plan.
