Ruidoso, NM RV Parks

We're thinking about camping (full hookups) in the Ruidoso, NM area. We like to fish, hike, campfire, etc., but not really fish in a stocked lake in a campground where you're charged by the fish. More of an outdoor setting for us, like lakes or streams. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Eagle Creek RV park in Alto NM, right outside Ruidoso. Rustic and no cell service but plenty of animals roaming thru the park. There is a small lake at the entrance to the park which has fish. We have seen bears, elk, deer, turkey, and what they say are wild horses in the park. Real quiet place.

The Ruidoso River is a trout stream and is also stocked at times. Check the NM weekly fishing and stocking reports. With the changes in the laws regarding access to private property, you will have to do some research to find areas where there is public access.
Safe travels!
