Monroe Reflex shocks

How much do they affect the ride when the truck is empty?

Do they harden the ride at all or more than regular Monroe gas-magnums?

I'm thinking with 170,000 miles on the factory shocks its time to replace them.

My ATV only weighs about 750 lbs.

I live in a canyon on a winding road.

Yesterday coming and going it does feel like the truck leans less in the corners with my ATV in the bed.

Maybe they do work as advertised.

I changed them yesterday and I was really surprised how easy they came off. The top rear bolts I broke loose using two combination wrenches locked together and the others came right off with a week POS 1/2" impact that can't take my lug nuts off.

I've owned several 3/4 trucks over the years and there really is a reason they call these HDs.

All my other trucks had car like HD shocks. These are way more "HD". ๐Ÿ˜„

I was looking at my shocks the other day, apparently someone on another forum broke one of his shock bolts it was so corroded on a fairly new Ram, I believe a 2014, same truck , and year as mine, and was having difficulty finding a replacement bolt.

Mine look like new under there ,no corrosion at all. The Utah salt has not got me yet ๐Ÿ™‚ I can't see them being a problem at this point getting them off.

SO, tell us 4600/5100 Bilstein's or Monroe Reflex and WHY one over the other in this application.

This should be interesting, what say you Cummins12V98

Not sure whqt you're asking??? Cummins2014??

What I am asking, well for the past 20 years I have owned 1 ton SRW trucks, they ride pretty rough ,no matter how I size it up. IMO the Monroe Reflex is as good as any , could I tell a difference with these 1 ton trucks, in ride ,and handling, well the answer is HELL no . So when I did replace shocks they were Monroe.

Although I have never hauled a camper, I do tow a fifth wheel. Shocks are just not on my list as something to worry about. I am still running the stock shocks on my 2014 Ram 3500. I do have a new set of the same shocks that came off my sons 2016, he lifts his trucks. When the time comes they will go on.

Back to why I asked Cummins12v98, well he's the expert, and the one that insists that Bilstein's are the only shock that works. Now with your truck, and camper the Bilstein's could very well be the best, I wouldn't know. What I do know that if ,and when my present shocks are worn out, it will be Monroe.

I agree they are not my color pf choice. But as I have mentioned the silver n black 5100's are for stock and up to 2" lift. So that reason is out the window.;)

Thanks for all the comments. I ordered the Reflex shocks.

I took a trip to Oregon and down the coast last year, 2500 miles with my 4000+ lb camper and OE shocks - no big deal. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I'm sure these will be an improvement over the OE's.

For me the extra cost for the bilsteins wasn't worth it.

Besides, I hate the color of them. ๐Ÿ˜„ LOL

I have run Reflex on my previous Ford Superduty. I too would not pay the price of Bilstein. The Reflex did a great job.

IMO , and a bit crazy, and biased, that someone can claim the difference on the brand of a good quality shock on these 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, they ride rough.

Paying the price for Bilsteins over the Reflex is like paying the ridiculous price for Goodyear G614's instead of getting the Sailun S637's .
