Help parking

We were at a campground for a week that has 3 gentleman that help you park in your site mainly because the roads are narrow. They are very knowledgeable. The problem is the drivers concentrate so much on the helpers they do NOT pay attention to the whole area. In one day I saw a motorhome backing in strike a car and a 5th wheel shatter their truck rear window. WATCH

x2 for DW and i.... she has learned to be a great spotter. i have had several campground helpers remark to her after i have backed a 33 ft TT in some really tight almost 90 degree backin spots that i must back up trailers for a living. i don't, but im 49 years old and grew up on a farm so ive been backing trailers since i was about 6 or 7 years old with tractors, and have had boats and campers the past 20 years. without spotter help on the back on the TT even with a backup camera mounted i never backup all the way in without her giving me hand signals/

And I am just the opposite. I would love to stay at his campground in the future. I think his attitude and approach, overall is a good one. I can't think of anything I've disagreed with in terms of how he manages his campground.

"Yes, I got a good scolding"

You got a scolding. :@

Brand new rig. Had to move sites due to power and I didn't wait for DW. A sawed off tree jumped up and smacked the side of the rig. ๐Ÿ˜ž

This was summer time in the scorching hot Arizona desert. It was ice cold in the rig for many days as she was not happy with me. :M

I've learned to wait. :C

Seems everyone on these forums are expert drivers. Somewhere, however lurks all the bad drivers that cause us $1000s of dollars of damage every year. I apologize to everyone who takes offense to the fact that we escort everyone to their site and ask them if they would like assistance in getting into that site. In a perfect world we wouldn't have to be concerned with people's ability to park, just like we shouldn't have to tell people to pick up after their pets and remind them of all the other things that common sense should cover. Just be aware that when you pay the site rental, a portion of that money is courtesy of those drivers who aren't as efficient as everyone on these forums.

The only time we had a problem with that was, well frankly, my fault. DH told our guide he relied on me to guide him in and I was not quite there. He missed the tree with the mirror, but not our awning...that took a mild scrape that some good tape fixed.
Yes, I got a good scolding, but we usually make a good team. He was NOT backing up FWIW.

I've only stayed at one campground that had "rangers" who escorted you to your site and assisted you in parking. Best directions I ever had, how much and which way to turn my front wheels, etc. My SIL had a different person whose performance was less than satisfactory at the same campground, same weekend. Ended up incredibly unlevel, side to side, and after his parking hassle just used his stabilizers as jacks!

I had a couple occasions where the "said helper" was attempting to guid me. My "Tanto" was also guiding me. "Said helper" was leading me to disaster because my "Tanto" was guiding me with hand signals we both understood. I followed her directions. "Said helper" got fed up and left. We got into the site just fine.

So, it can and does happen.

Glad to see you have such a low opinion of people who are doing their job. Those "said helpers" aren't there to make your life miserable or to damage your RV. They are employees who are tasked with protecting both your rig and the park's property. Apparently their chosen occupation is beneath you. Hopefully what you do for a living is equally unappreciated and resented.

WOW, what a terrible threat. Someone who doesn't stay at campgrounds saying they would never stay at my campground.
I personally always thought it was wrong to criticize people who are just doing their job, but apparently on these forums it is fun sport. Too bad all these posters who feel it is necessary to bash the people who work at RV parks don't post their professions. If they did, I am sure we could all make fun of them and tell stories of how they fail on a daily basis.
I don't know whether or not anyone who frequents these forums have ever stayed at my parks. But I wouldn't be disappointed if a select group of them never darken my doors and that list would start with people who would disrespect my employees.

My standing order is if I'm going to hit something yell otherwise don't say anything and your wasting energy waving your arms around. I know what i'm doing, it may not look like it but I do.
Though I would agree that this forum must have all the greatest backers in the country because from my experience as a driving instructor and trailer towing trainer the majority of the people I see have a hard enough time backing up a vehicle much less a trailer attached to the vehicle. It amazes me how anyone over 25 years old hasn't figured out how to use the vehicle mirror then there are the guys that think there cool by only using there mirrors and not all there viewing options.

When parking help arrives, I politely tell them to stay the hell out of my way.
If one, in my opinion, can't park his own RV, he shouldn't be driving it.

Where as I welcome help if someone offers even though I do not need it.. Most of the time.. 25 dollars in damage recently (i'll fix it tomorrow) to my bicycle. ZERO to the Motorhome.

Been an expensive month. but mostly routine maintenance not damage

New tires (2200 and change) New inverter (just about 1000 by the time I'm finished (tomorrow, the last or next to last part of this job is in a box by my feet. I plug it in tomorrow and route cable)

Oil change.

And one tired driver (The new tires were 4 weeks ago. but the rest was today)... The Tire job went well. They only dropped the RV one time....

Seriously.. they dropped it. Only damage was to my jack (Knocked the grab handle I never use off it) and to their parking lot (a base of my jack size hole). Now there is a reason the jack rests on a 2x12x12 plank.. Now they understand.

I have been guided over flowers that belonged to the camper across the road and even had a park owner reach thru the window and yank on my steering wheel as I was straddling two of the four sewer pipes on the site. Please leave me alone.
