In my initial posting, I meant the new EU2200i. For a few more days, Northern Tool has a deal of a $200 gift card on purchases over $1000. Their regular price is $999 and I will spend an extra dollar or two to quailfy.

I'd get the Honda, especially with the $200 kicker! You won't be disappointed.

That would be my choice too.

Reliability without the inflated price.

My Champion 3400 gas model works well. Is it better than anything else, can't answer that. For the low price and decibels, it works.

Come on silence only guys, not all of us have or can afford to pay for a gasoline powered generator that is silent, nor is one available. Some of us need power for a lot of reasons and I am one. I think I have a right to be out in nature and still have the power needed to be safe medically. If you think you have a right to absolute silence, just try to find such a place and if successful, try living there.

I chose to defend my country by serving on a submarine, most folks don't know how damaging to your hearing that is. I rejoice when I can hear what is going on around me. Most inverter generators are very quiet and don't bother the average person.

OK, I'm all set on buying a Honda EU2000i and it's all I need except it won't handle the AC.

The new Honda EU2200i will successfully start & run a 13,500 BTU A/C, especially if that A/C is equipped with a Micro-Air Easy Start Soft Starter Kit. Genset forum pundits, most of whom who have never owned a premium Honda or Yamaha genset, will always question the cost and although there are plenty of happy Champ owners remember there is still an equivalency between cost and long term reliability. Your choice. [emoticon]

and based on experience this summer it will run at least a dometic 13.5KBTU at 6000+ ft. something the honda 2000 would NOT do even at 4000ft. But the key is honda 2200 AND the microair easy start. the dometic wouldn't start at 4000ft on a cool day w/o the easy start with the 2200 or 2000.

If you are going to be in a campground with neighbors, get the quietest available that has the power you need. Even a dB or two is significant. If you can afford an RV, you can afford a quieter generator. I don't understand the other mindset.

consider a westinghouse igen 4000. electric remote start, inverter, 30.8 amps peak . very quiet at lower power . $949 delivered. We like ours.

You may want to look at one of these Harbor Freight genset

Another vote for the harbor freight Predator 3500 generator.
Just bought one this fall. As quiet as any 3000w+ genny I've been around and 1/3rd the cost of a Honda EU3000. If it doesn't last 10 years, I'll buy another one and still have $400 in my pocket.

Sound Test with DB meter.
