X2, if I'm playing catch with my sons, that baseball may just fly a little higher than normal. One of the absolute worst inventions to ever come along, good-bye privacy.

Always amazed at the ignorance and stupidity that these posts bring out. Lots of folks who talk a big game about destroying them, and have no idea of what the cameras really capture.

I have a DJI Mavic Pro. They are a lot of fun to fly, and give you a perspective in a way you can't see otherwise.. Yes there are limitations on where you can fly. The DJI software tells you if you are in a prohibited area. Drone Buddy is another good one.

Outside of the restriction of flying around airports and National Parks, you are able to fly most places. I like to fly mine when we go camping and boating. Honestly, I get many more positive inquiries about the Mavic when I am flying it than negatives.

I don't like your noisy diesel class A, or your noisy generator or your barking dogs. Can I blast all of those with my shotgun?

Used responsibly, camera drones are a great tool.

Hope it is not one that has the gun mounted. Good luck.

They are also banded in Oregon SP. I think it is due to too many inexperienced pilots.

Drone Regulation & Use

I think this regulation covers the OP's basic question and most animosity towards drones "You currently cannot fly a small UAS over anyone not directly participating in the operation"

On a lark I took the test for a drone rating and will recieve it when the government returns to work. I have no plans to fly them but it's extremely easy for a licensed and current aviator to get.

Canada has introduced new regulations to come into effect June 1. Overkill IMHO. In theory, I can't fly FPV goggles on my 75 acres without a spotter.

To keep yourself and others safe, fly your drone:

where you can see it at all times
below 122 metres (400 feet) in the air
away from bystanders, at a minimum distance of 30 metres for basic operations
away from emergency operations and advertised events
Avoid forest fires, outdoor concerts and parades
away from airports and heliports
5.6 kilometres (3 nautical miles) from airports
1.9 kilometres (1 nautical mile) from heliports
far away from other aircraft
Don’t fly anywhere near airplanes, helicopters and other drones
Always respect the privacy of others while flying.

Fines for individuals
up to $1,000 for flying without a drone pilot certificate
up to $1,000 for flying unregistered or unmarked drones
up to $1,000 for flying where you are not allowed
up to $3,000 for putting aircraft and people at risk

Laser lights, multiple Coleman lanterns, barking dogs, loud music and screaming kids are bad enough.
I never want to see a drone at a campground.
