Texas Coast (Beach) Boondock Options?

Good afternoon.

I recently moved to Houston and I'm investigating camping with my 29 ft trailer right on the beach in a "random camping/boondocking" environment for a weekend getaway.

Not sure if this is a doable thing or not, but my kids would love it (well me too!).

Interested in opinions if anyone has done it as I'm also not looking to get stuck (F150 4x4 is my tow vehicle)! I'm also wondering if it is legally allowed.

Not looking for your secret spot, but maybe an area or a town. Not sure if I have to go down to Corpus or potentially closer to Houston (preferable for a weekend getaway).

Thanks in advance for your time.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time at Quintana Beach County Park near Freeport. I often see boondockers along the several miles of open beach west of the park. I believe(?) you’d need a beach permit but I’m not sure where to get it. The Quintana Village office would be my first guess.

If you get tired of roughing it, there are FHU sites at the County Park.
that's Bryan Beach next to Quintana. It's a state park

Video shows the "how to" including getting a permit, Google Maps shows the location.

Gilchrest/Bolivar maybe. I think you will need a beach "sticker" for your car from Galveston county.
Shovel and boards would be a good idea to carry.
Make a car trip there first without the trailer to check it out.
Stingaree Marina has decent lunch & dinner.
Good weather next few days.

CC,

Go to the end of the road on HWY 457 passed Sargent, TX. Beach parking or large boat launch parking lot for you to choose from for boondocking in low traffic area. During the week you could be by yourself.

Basic shopping and eateries not to far away.
