Corpus Cristi Coasta Area?

Hi,
I have a sea kayak and have been considering taking it to the Gulf for the Winter.

Can anyone suggest some coastline or estuaries in rural Texas near the Corpus Cristi area or other clean water areas: BLM Lands, State Parks, or other areas to park?

Thanks
B

Most of the state parks do not have sewer if that is a consideration

Mustang Island SP is pretty much wind-swept sand...parts of Goose Island SP are set of among nice trees...ex. the oldest live oak in texas is just down the road from Goose Island SP

google 'texas state parks reservations'...there's a contracted 800 number, or--the preferred method--an online system....online easier, after creating an account, because you can 1.) see availability for the park and the type of site (for a trailer, for tent camping, for walk-in primitive tent camping, etc.) and select a particular site...

as to getting in...might be hard to get into any of them at high season...guaranteed impossible during spring break...

good luck!

there's two state parks in the area, right on the bay...mustang island state park, and goose island state park...also, there's (through Nueces County) Padre Balli County Park...I'm not sure if there's put-in's to access water...might google 'texas state parks paddling trail'

we've stayed at all three...the state parks are, well...state parks...scenic and clean, but not much in the way of amenities (pools, golfing, etc.) like you might find at an RV resort...the county park is pretty much just a parking lot with utility pedestals, with beach access over a small dune

This is from the Parks & Wildlife 'paddling trail' pages:

Mustang Island Paddling Trail
Paddlers on Port O'Connor Paddling Trail
The Mustang Island Paddling Trail consists of the North Trail (8.5 miles), the Shamrock Loop (5.24 miles) and the Ashum Trail (6.8 miles). All of the trails follow the western shoreline of Mustang Island in Corpus Christi Bay, and cover some of the best shallow-water fishing areas in Texas. The Ashum Trail follows the shoreline of Corpus Christi Bay over a firm sand bottom and allows for outstanding bird watching as well as sight-casting opportunities. The Shamrock Loop skirts the beautiful, protected waters of Shamrock Cove, where it connects with the North Trail, which follows the shoreline to East Flats and then meanders through marsh and spoil islands to the Island Moorings marina in Port Aransas.

Anywhere. They are in the bay along with out in the Gulf.
Here is a link to Corpus Fishing there are several members that have sea kayaks and post all the time.

I second that request! We are heading to Port Aransas in March and want to know where we can kayak.
