Best Route from AZ to Portland OR o/a Feb 25-28

Have plans to drive from AZ to Portland OR sometime the week of Feb 25th sometime to pickup our new camper. What route would you all recommend--especially in light of the weather this time of the year. I'm leaning towards I10/I5 for better lodging and contingency options (in case of a mechanical problem). Unfortunately, there appears to be a lot of construction delays on I5 north of Santa Clarita CA. Thoughts?

1. West on I10, then north on I5

or

2. AZ 93 to Las Vegas, NV 95, NV 376, NV 305, I80, NV 95, OR 78, OR 20, OR26

Hwy. 99 road conditiosn are in much better shape than I-5 especially when towing. There is an alternative route just past Palm Springs, go north to Apple Valley to Victorville to 395.

Ed_Gee, Your welcome. email privately if you want more detailed information about your whole trip, places to stay to i.e. RV parks, free overnight spots like SpotLight Casino just before you get to Indio, no hook ups but good food in Casino. Your turn off to Hesperia is just a few miles west of Palms at Hwy 162. Watch the weather for the Siskyiou Pass from Redding Caif. to Ashland Oregon. If the pass has road contains due to snow, take Hwy 20 off I-5 about 40 miles north of Sacramento. Go west to Hwy. 101. Take 101 north to Hwy 26 near Seaside. Take Hwy 26 east right into Portland. My daughter lives right near Portland, so we make the trip a couple of times every year. If at all possible I would attempt to avoid towing right in the center of Portland, alot of traffic.

The West Coast has been really cold and snowy. No end in sight until at least Feb 25. I-5 would be a lot less trouble.

Watch the weather as it gets closer. If it warms up then I would take the shorter route which is more interesting.
