I mostly have the SD DL and License Plates so I can Double tow in CA and it seems to work in OR and WA (YES it's NOT legal there).

I would like to get my License Plates and DL in AZ since double tow is legal there and CA recognizes them also. AZ in not too far from where I winter in CA.

So now you have the background, SUGGESTIONS?

My understanding is that drivers license are are accepted by all states in a reciprocal agreement, but laws such as double towing, speed limits, etc are state specific, If double towing is illegal in a state it is illegal regardless of where you are licensed.

Is anyone ACTUALLY READING any of what I have posted?

I want to get my DL and plates in AZ. I DON’T want to drive 1,200 miles from SoCal to get my SD DL that is expiring in September.

AZ is only a couple hundred miles away.

Looking for recommendations. On how to get that accomplished.

Did I ask any of what you just posted? I think I explained my reason and also said it’s not legal in two states I tow.

- google how to establish residency in AZ.
- drive to Arizona
- follow the rules on establishing residency
- get plates and DL

here ya go. the DL seems to be the keys to the kingdom.
https://www.dmv.org/az-arizona/apply-license.php

you'll need an address. either a "home park" or a mail forwarding service. you also seem to need to spend a majority of the year in AZ. not as EZ as SD.
