between front and back. Michelin Defender 17" 245 comes with 12/32" instaled new 9,000 mi. ago (recom. 6-8,000 mi.) At rotation rear @ 7/32", front @ 11/32". Since put on 1,000 miles towing 25, 000 # Trailer . Use Load Leveler and sway bar. Why such big wear in rear and why so much diferance between rear and front of PU?

And 9 thousand miles and no tire rotation? Not a good move.

How often would you suggest rotating?? 9k ain't much.
But rotation does not affect rear tire wear. It affects Even tire water.

Towing. Period.

Even not towing the rears will wear faster anyway.

More likely related to 8,000 miles of aggressive acceleration when not towing than 1,000 miles towing.
Before you say not me, would you let your insurance company put one of those monitors on your truck?

More tire wear on the rear of a towing vehicle is not unheard of, it's the constant high torque on the rear wheels from pulling a sail at highway speeds. I've experienced it.

But 5/32" in 9,000 miles, with a Tacoma? That seems excessive.

Is the wear even across the tread width?
Tire pressure?
Has the vehicle possibly got a bent axle?

Well. If you are truly towing a 25,000lb trailer with a Tacoma. Would answer a lot of your question. But I know you aren't.

Have you thought about having it 4 wheel alined? Give that a shot
