Turns out that diesels, newer ones anyway, DO have a kind of CAT but it is somewhat different than those used on cars.

Make sure it meets your engine oil required spec

Zinc in many diesel engine oils will kill gasoline engine's CAT's

This oil is designed specifically for gas engines with correct amount of Zinc/Phos that's specified by API SN+ requirements. It's not designed to be used in diesel engines.

Sounds like it is just another oil for gas engines trying to capitalize on a famous brand name.

I found it at AutoZone on clearance a few weeks ago, and bought 12 quarts for about $40, then sent in a rebate form, and got $24 back in about a week. Total price was less than $20 for 12 quarts.

I use the diesel oil in Red, but it has a flat tappet cam and the new oils aren't designed for that while the diesel oils are.
