Thanks for posting. There some sweet concepts out there for sure.
32 TC mfgs is a bit misleading since a bunch of those are mini C’s on truck chassis rather than cutaways or big chsssi cabs.
I think the Cirrus is one of the best “looking” campers.
And wth is the guy thinking with the one that looks like a bbq grille with a window in it?
I think he owns that abomination that gets posted up once in a while that is like 25’ long on a F350!

thanks AnEv942 for the orphan list. Brings back some old very good memories seeing those names again. Friends and family used all four Oklahoma made TC's from another era.
I carried truck campers in the '60s/'70s era and see all four truck camper mfg in my state back them are long gone. Back then we saw more truck campers at the many large COE lakes than TTs.
5th wheel trailers were just getting started good in the late '70s era around here anywayz....which IMO lead to the demise of truck campers at camp grounds.

Not Facebook, and not random guys who grab your photo off the web for whatever reason. My background is in photography and I regularly send demand letters or sue copyright infringers. Lance sold last year, what I don't consider survived even new owners keep the name. They are one of the best TC on the market, but the product quality sucks.
Go to Lance forum and see rebuild pictorial.
Just few years and you need to spend ca 15 grands on repairs.
So once again, IMHO the camper build is businesses easy to enter, but hard to deliver quality product. That is why so many manufacturers go.

32 now but when the economy goes south (and it will because the economy is cyclical), that 32 will reduce to maybe 10 at most. Some of those pictured are just stone ugly too and some are of questionable quality.

The old established builders like Lance, Northstar, ALP and a few others will survive just fine. The rest will fade into oblivion.

I like the idea of aluminum but consider this. I had an aluminum luggage rack on top of a 89 Chevy van, the classic U shape with the front open encircling the rear so you could place your luggage inside the railing. The fasteners were screwed to the roof of course and the railing was free to move through the fasteners which were shaped like a hoop. The ends of the railing at the front were pinned solid in the fastener/hoop.

The expansion of this railing was enough because the ends were pinned and not able to float to put a very noticeable fist sized dent in the top of the Chevy van on both sides where the railing terminated. And this was not light duty metal back then.

So aluminum is cool, but allowances should be made when spanning or tying something down.

Every few years new "backyard shop" starts making TC, they sell them and when warranty claims pile-up, they close the door.
For comparison Country Coach is the only big bus conversions manufacturer and they have rock-solid reputation for decades.

I did own Airstream camper, I did own bus with stainless steel siding and I would love to own aluminium TC.
The only available are very old Avons and they come in too small sizes for me.
You'd think that with $80,000 pricing on new campers somebody would like to make lasting design?

I just saw a press release about a new camper. Aluminum frame with riveted skin. Painted up all yellow on a yellow truck. Can't find it now. Maybe someone else saw it??

I tried Facebook for 6 months as an experiment and then deleted my account. The time frame of the camper ownership and the posting of those photos does line up .... mystery solved 🙂
