cruz-in, Thank you for contacting Good Sam. Can you please provide the city of the dealership you have having issues with in a private message? I would be happy to share your concerns with the leadership team.

Thank you,

PM sent.

However, this is typical of my response from Camping world and tryiing to buy this RV. Did their customer service even read my OP?

1) Quoting my OP: "We would like to buy an Airstream from your store in VA."
2) Camping World (Gander Mountain) only has one dealer that sells Airstreams in VA,
3) Thirdly, it appears Camping World only has one location in the whole country that that sells Airstreams.

Seems like this is a canned response and CW Customer Service did not even read my OP. [emoticon]

I think you are expecting a lot of effort on everyone else's part.

An online rep for this forum is NOT going to know which store you are talking about. They are NOT going to know what stores sell what brands. Asking you for details not given is what she should have done. And, yes, other than that question, it IS a canned response. That's how this board works. Unhappy customers vent. Reps post a canned response asking for additional info offline.

You won't work with a new salesperson simply because they are new and your purchase is "special".

Doesn't sound like Camping World can meet your expectations. I suspect anywhere you go you will have issues as you seem to expect special service for your special purchase.

Or maybe it could be the same right off the bat negative experience trying to buy at CW I experienced a couple of times, quite a few folks I know personally experienced, and plenty of others on RV boards including this one experienced? FWIW Camping World RV sales does not have the most stellar reputation and a quick net search will return you thousands of hits.

OP, do yourself a favor and find an Airstream dealer that's independent, preferably a mom and pop operation, even if it means traveling. You will be much better off not dealing with CW or others that use the same business model like Campers Inn RV.

I look forward to the day when Rv/auto/truck sales are one price, and that's the price. Isn't anyone getting tired of this sillyness?

Remember Saturn? I bought one just because of the fact that you knew exactly what the price of the car was.

Could it be? Yes.

But from what the OP has disclosed here 1) he is upset that his special "$90k airstream purchase" was given to a new salesman as is standard (by his own admission); and 2) he is upset that the response given on this complaint here was the standard request for additional details offline.

It sounds as if he does not want to be treated like other customers. And that is not the same as getting subpar treatment.

Yes, Camping World has issues. But that doesn't make every complaint reasonable.

Ugh...the saga continues.

Dealing with the Sales Manager now. I gave him my requirements. Only three (2nd AC, Solar Package, and awning package). After looking into it, he tells me good news, they have two that meet my requirements on the lot and he will work up an estimate. I was skeptical as, on Friday when I walked the lot, they did not have any that had 2 ACs. I go to the website and see, sure enuff, the two he cited do not have the 2nd AC option. I point it out to him and, after further investigation, he says oh yeah you are right. Hoping now to get a quote to order one.

To the poster critical of my not wanting the new salesman. I certainly do not mean to be the least bit critical of him. I said he was a great guy, good personality, social skills, and with bit of training would be a good sales man. I do not mean to complain at all about him. If somehow my first post came across like that I apologize.

My complaint is that Camping World had not trained him. As an example, he had not entered the gated area where the RVs were from the side we entered on and did not know how to get in. Not his fault. It is a process problem. He was a brand new employee and had not had a proper orientation or training.

Not sure where you are getting this. I was concerned that they had apparently not read my post because they were asking for info I had already provided. It was not a request for additional details, just asking me where I brought the RV. Which was already disclosed in my post.

Want to make sure to make sure I follow up here. The Sales Manager got back to me with a very reasonable price for ordering one.

I do understand these things happen.

However, they do need to improve their process of training and orienting new folks.

I now have to deal with the fine gent who has 3 weeks experience selling RVs. ...and we are trying to buy an RV from you all that has an MSRP of greater than $90K! Not going to do that from a trainee.

I dunno...sounds to me like you weren't going to deal with this salesman regardless of him knowing what gate to walk in from.

Glad you got it sorted out though. Hope you get the trailer you want.

In your OP, you mentioned your "$90k purchase" three times. You also mentioned your "upscale purchase" in the same post. Only comment of lack of training was to say he didn't know about the RVs - but as you had already made your choice that isn't really a problem.

"1) We would like to buy an Airstream from your store in VA." As I pointed out, the internet staff that monitors this forum is not going to know WHICH location that is. They are not going to know that only one store sells airstreams as you indicate. So it is reasonable for them to ask which store you were dealing with.
