North Carolina Rout 26 to Charleston

Heading to Charleston S.C. from Nashville TN. 2 July. 40 Ft M.H. with tOW. What is Interstate 26 like? Going on 40 E, Towards Knoxville,then continue and catch 26 down to Charleston. I do not want to go towards Atlanta then to charleston.

26 from Asheville to Charleston is a pleasant enough trip. There is one or two steep grades (down) in the Saludas/Hendersonville area but not too bad. It can get real busy going through Columbia and Charleston.

We were down there 3 weeks ago. 26 is fine, we stayed at a KOA in Ladson,SC that wasn't bad and easy drive to everything. We have a 40ft DP and a Smart car toad but parking was awful in the city and none free. I put 400 mi on the Smart in a week, took cruise, carriage rides, dined, etc. Had a good time.

We have been on that route a few times in the last 3 years. Always a decent trip, decent road surfaces. Some hill decents, going south, but very managable. Wonderful views of the Smokeys.
