That could put a crimp in drone sales.

The rules are enforced by Transport Canada and the RCMP. Drone pilots must carry a valid drone pilot certificate and only fly drones that are marked and registered.

For drones that weigh more than 250 grams (half pound) and up to 35 kilograms (77 pounds), some of the regulations include that they must be flown to a maximum of 90 metres (98 yards) above the ground, only during the day, not in clouds, within 500 metres (547 yards) of the operator and at least 5.5 kilometres (3 and a half miles) from aerodromes (any airport, seaplane base or areas where aircraft take off and land.

Safety and privacy are a couple of the key factors.

I don't think it will put too much of a crimp on sales. Drones that weight under 250gr (9 ounces) do not need to be registered or licensed.

This wouldn't be an issue or necessary if people weren't so "stupid" and ignorant with their use of drones. Put the use of drones in the same category as ignoramuses with LEDs that shine them at aircraft. A few always seem to ruin things for others.

Add another one to the "repeal stupid regulations list" for the next Canadian government to reverse. It's going to take them 2 years just to undo all the damage the current government has done.

Yeah, what pile of BS, passing regulations for no other reason than trying to keep people safe ......... what a silly idea!

Ever since seatbelts became mandatory it’s all been downhill I guess.

Lasers, too. Don't point them at aircraft cockpits, either.
