Replacing tub surround

Last step on my bathroom rebuild is the tub surround. The original was getting brittle and cracked during removal so bought a new one (boy, are they expensive for a simple piece of vinyl).
My question is: can I use the same rivet holes for installing the new surround? I was going to use the old one as a template and simply drill the holes for rivets and faucet placement in the new one in the same locations.

Thanks! Walls are solid so I'll proceed as planned.

That’s how I’d do it if the walls are in good shape.
