So the question is: What is your routine when you stop for Fuel, Rest, Ect.?

Mine is as follows:

1 - I walk around a take a quick look at the hitch, chains, electrical plug. Is everything where it is supposed to be?

2. As I walk around the TT I will touch each axel and tire surface. Are they warmer/hotter than usual?

3. Look at the tires quick - do they appear to be properly inflated?

That being said I have yet to discover an issue! I have been doing it for so long that its just a habit. Its the way my father taught me and its how I have trained my son, he will check one side while I check the other.

My stopped routine is about the same as yours, walk around and visually check everything. I use an infrared thermometer to check heat.
I don't have TT but, I think the walkaround is the same for any type of rig.

I do the same thing, and I also put my ear up to the fridge vent to see if the propane is still running and keeping my fridge cool. I have had situations where it quit working while on the road. If I depart the immediate vicinity (pay for gas, go to restroom etc, I do it again before I pull out.

X2 on the infrared thermometer. I also check the storage and entry doors to make sure they didn't self open; especially if I had recently been over rough roads.

I also check the entry door and baggage doors to make sure they're still secure.

If I leave the trailer to go inside to pay gas or go inside a grocery store to pick up a few things, I'm real critical about checking the chains and all the pins in the coupler and WDH. I've heard of a couple cases in which people caught kids pulling pins from the WDH. These are the same type of kids that throw cinder blocks and stones off of overpasses.

I do what most people here do but I do it last. As in when I stop for fuel or washroom break I’ll fuel up and do whatever else I have to do then on my way back to the truck I’ll take the long was around the trailer and check everything just before I leave. That way I know nobody messed with it while it was out of my sight.

I wonder if we are all going to do the same basic checks because we are all on the same forum.

I touch each bearing center cap. Then when done shopping/eating etc I will check the hitch really quick, then jump in the TV and go.

what about fueling and getting the heck out of the pumps and not use the restroom, wash your hands, wonder the sales area looking for snacks, order a sub, get a drink, pick up the chips from the sales area, get in line to pay ....... all while someone else waits to use the pump.
