Going west it looks like there's less than 10 miles difference between taking 97/58 and 20/126. After reading the Mountain directory descriptions of Santiam and Willamette passes I'm thinking the 20/126 route would be the easier drive. Would that be a correct assessment?

HWY 242 is closed to vehicles over 35 ft. between Sisters and Belknap

97/58 is MUCH better way to go.

Both ways have nice scenery.

Depends on your driving skills. 20/126 would be a little slower as the road is very curvy.
97/58 as I remember it, has less curves and slightly higher speed.
If you have never been to Crater Lake, 97/58 would give you a good choice to enter from thenorth and visit there.
