generator bumper mount tray carriers

Has anyone mounted a Gennygo bumper mount 24" generator tray carrier? Do I need a additional bumper support bracket. I plan on buying a predator 3500 watt generator which weighs about 100 lbs.

Also, be careful hanging things off the back as it can drag and even get ripped off the trailer when leaving parking lots. I also tend to agree with the others about the limitations of the bumpers. I know it's a tempting storage location ut I'd never hang more than a spare tire on mine.

What everyou decide , simply add an eyescrew to each corner of the trailer about 3 ft above the bumper into the rubber trim that hids the screws on the corner piece . There is meat to screw int whether it is 2 x 2 wood or aluminum. Attach a chain or rope to hold up the corners so ther is no bouncing...

I am inclined to agree with the two previous posters.

The bumper on mine is pretty puny. My rack has 3' of square tube on each side tied to the frame rails using grade 8 bolts.

6,000 miles and zero troubles.

Duh. What did your trailer manufacturer say? Havenโ€™t yet seen a manufacturer say โ€œmount anything you want to the TT bumper.โ€

I wouldn't trust my generator on one of those. Any tray that supports that much weight should be tied in directly to the frame in my opinion. There are lots of options in the same price vicinity.

Something like this with a tray from Harbor Freight or similar.

I have yet to see a TT bumper strong enough to do what you are proposing.

Some have replaced the thin walled factory bumper with a thick walled one, others bypass the bumper and fabricate attachments directly to the frame.
Both approaches can work, but also require some advanced DIY skills.

I have not.

When I had a similar need I went to a local fabricator and had him build me one.

I spent around $250. It is 8' wide and 2' deep and holds a Honda EU3000i, additional house batteries and a Rubbermaid deck box. It is really stout.

The supports extend about 3' along the frame rails and is bolted to the frame with grade 8 bolts.

I have put about 6,000 miles on it including a trip to Mexico. We traveled some pretty rough roads and had zero issues and once we got out of California the roads got better.....

Not kidding. The roads in Sonora were notably better.
