I have a 2016 Vengeance 39R12. When we have the hot water bypass valve set to normal, no water comes out when we turn on the hot water. There is no check valve coming out of the hot side of the hot water heater. I have taken apart the hot water bypass valve, and it is working fine. I can not find any other shut off valves or kinks in the hose. I have talked to the techs at Camping World where I bought it. I have talked to the techs at Good Sam. I have talked to a local RV repairman and two local dealer techs. No one can figure out what the problems is. Can you please help me?

Every RV hot water that I've worked with has at least two or three valves depending on configuration. If it's a three-valve system and the bypass valve is in closed position with the other two valves also shut off, no water will flow. I'd check for two other valves on the inlet and discharge side of the hot water heater.

Do you have any warm water. Just wondering if maybe someone used the outside shower tap, and shut off the wand, but left both taps on. This will cause a blending of hot and cold, and very little hot water will get delivered. Just a shot in the dark.

There has got to be more valves you're not seeing?

Is the tank simply empty and needs to be filled before it exits a faucet?

Any chance the handle of the valve you took apart is installed 90 degrees wrong so "off" is actually "on"?

Just tossing out ideas. Pictures always help. My water heater bypass consists of 3 valves.

Have you verified water even goes into water heater....Pop T&P Relief Valve open?

Have you disconnected Hot outlet line at fitting on back of water heater tank and verified water comes out?

Check valve on hot out is common if you do not have 3 shutoff valves....
1 for COld In, 1 for HOT Out, 1 for Bypass.
No Hot out shutoff valve..then nipple in hot out is check valve

What Brand/Model Water Heater?

Is it time for your medication or mine?

I would disconnect the valve and verify that water actually gets to it and flows through it. Then maybe pull the drain plug on the water heater and see if water is getting that far. Just keep moving up or down the line until you find where the water stops flowing.

And yes, check that outside shower and make sure the valves aren't turned on with the head turned off.

Are you sure no check valve on the output of the W/H. They look pretty much the same as a pipe nipple. They tend to come apart and plug the output.

Is this rig new to you? Did you ever have hot water?Did Camping World or someone else possibly install a new heater? If so,check valve on inlet might be installed backward...no water getting in.Looks just like a pipe nipple like Roger says.

Key phrases
"We have THE hot water valve set to Normal"
"There is no check valve..."

IF you have a single valve bypass system there **MUST** Be a check valve and that valve is your problem.

If you have a TWO valve system the check is not necessary but you must turn the other valve

I have a 3 valve system, also no check valve but the all 3 valves need to be properly set for it to work.

But if you have a single valve. as your post implies THERE MUST be a check valve.

Home is where I park it.
