Are your grandaughter and boyfriend smart or dumb? Do they know how to drive in snow?
If the answers are smart and yes, then don't worry.
If not, then I'd be worried.

Hey it is northern driving & mountain driving as well. It is all about the weather & there are plenty of sites online for current weather & road cams. The problem is cellphone coverage. Very spotty. Load up the car with blankets, water, & emergency supplies. Not likely to need them but if you do, you do.

If you want to be proactive? Maybe invest in an InReach. They carry it with in the car...can send daily updates, plus messages and a call for help if needs be.

they actually live there...she had been in Washington State to help care for her terminally ill Mother. they bought the car during that time, and wanted to take it back.

Well, if they actually live there, then they know what it's all about.
So worrying is a waste of time.

when it is your grandkids, it is never a waste of time. they have lived there for almost a year, never driven through from Washington state to Haines..
I find your comment unfeeling....
best way I can put it without being banned.
