Seems like I make a trip to Walmart every day. Had a couple of encounters at the checkout this morning.
First, lady in front of me was buying some winter clothing for some small children. She had a coat in her hand and I asked her if I could butt in for a minute. I told her that tomorrow morning, our Church was having a Coats for Kids event, giving away coats to families without cost. We do this every year and usually give out about 150 - 175 coats each year. She thanked me and said she would see me in the morning, putting the coat back.
After checking out, leaving out the door, the employee checking receipts commented on the price of some packaged wooden sticks in my cart. I bought six packages of 36" long sticks, 12 per pack, for 88 cents per pack. I told her we were having a "hootenanny" Sunday. I said you probably didn't know what a hootenanny was. She looked at me deadpan face and said "sure I do, its almost as good as a shindig." I said you got there, and told her to have a great day!!!!

That was a nice gesture with the lady and the coat.......hope she took you up on the invite and got a free coat for her kid.

As for daily trip to Walmart.....
Should make a list and do ALL your shopping on one day.

We don't shop Walmart.
Just not our kind of place......for various reasons.

The Super Walmart in our town, Grants Pass, Oregon, you can shop your groceries online.
I shop my groceries i want, online. Then i go to checkout. I give a code. They give me a $10 discount each time. They give me a total amount for my groceries.
I pick out a day & time i want to pickup my groceries.
I park in special parking spaces at the store.
My personal shopper brings my groceries out & loads them into the jeep.
I don't even have to get out of my jeep.
This all makes shopping very simple...[emoticon]

My local Walmart tried that receipt checking nonsense a while back. I just politely said no thanks and kept walking. Apparently I'm not alone and after a month or so they stopped asking. While I heard that the ACLU says you do not have to show a receipt I could not find that on their website. But countless other sites including various law offices say you don't have to show a receipt. The exception to this is with places like Sams Club or Costco where the membership agreement that you sign gives them the right to check.

Definition:
Shopping means slowly rolling the shopping cart up and down all the aisles to see if anything will entice you to buy it.
It works. People buy too much.
Me, I just read my short list of things that I need. Still, some stores want to check my receipt, and I have it ready. I like Walmart and Sam's. Sometimes I overnight on their lot.

I wouldn't worry about showing my receipt, unless of course I nicked something now and again! In fact, I would prefer that they all checked, as it would keep the pilfering down, and give the stores more of a chance to keep the prices down.
