I am going to port my number from Verizon to Red Pocket Mobile. I will be using the same phone and changing the SIM card. Can anyone tell me if I will lose my contact list with all the saved numbers?

Plugging in the cable is not enough
For the pc to correctly access phone operation and file system
You must install the windows pc drivers , on your pc
The phone must be turned on, then plug phone into usb
You will use windows explorer ie this pc
You treat the phone like it is an external USB memory stick/drive
And go thru file system folders until you find your contacts
Then save/copy that folder to your pc
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

I have read the manual and it is not at all detailed on how to do it. I do have a way to connect the phone to the laptop, which I have done and still not figured how to do it. Like I said, tech challenged.

IF the phone is an Android Google may have a backup feature as well.
IOS I can't help you
Non-Smart.. Take notes cause I do not know

One thing I did in my non-smart days was save the contact list to teh SIM card, then transfer it to the new phone.. (Or you may be able to use a Memory card) Then transfer it back to the phone's memory then pop in the new sim.

But best if you have teh tech at the phone store do that kind of trick.

Where would the micro memory card go in the phone? Would I need some kind of adapter?

Do you have an micro SD memory card In the phone
If not get one and put it I there
A super cheap 4 gig card , is plenty large for just contacts
There should be an option or a downloadable app from the the vzw get it Now store, that will let you save the contract list on the memory card
It could have changed, but my phones all Verizon never did save contacts on the SIM card, which only used to identify the phone to the vzw cell system

I have a Kyocera Cadence phone that I have had less than 2 years. It does have a browser that is 4G LTE. I have never used it. I will plug it in to my PC and see what happens.

How old is your flip phone
Does it have even a rudimentary mobile internet app,
Camera, send pictures
Those are/were called "Feature phones"
And yes there is a way to back up contacts
Even if you have to plug into your PC and save the file that way
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

It all depends on what app you are using for contacts. If you are using a carrier contact app or a phone manufacturer app you are always faced with this issue if you want to change carrier or phone company. If you use Google contacts or any cloud based app that is not carrier or phone manufacturer based, your contacts are always there and you are free to move to another phone or carrier company with no effect on your contacts. It is easy to import contacts from any other application into Google Contacts before you switch to avoid losing contacts in a switch.
