Do you have a toad? We have relatives that live in Sandusky and when visiting we stay in Crystal Rock campground. It's pretty easy to drive to just about anywhere from there.

We stayed in Camp Sandusky once and it was tight and extremely smoky from buring wet wood.

We drove by the KOA but it's WAY too close to the entrance of Cedar Point and getting in and out of there during the day looked like a chore, that we weren't willing to take on.

Go to Tofts to get ice cream!!!

Many years ago we would take the kids and our bikes on the ferry and spend the day on the island, lots of history there and many geological sites. It was then known as the "quiet island" as to the rowdy South Bass Island and Put-In-Bay. There is a State Park campground there, my brother takes his Pop Up on the ferry every year. There are lots of RV Campgrounds in the Port Clinton, but most of them lease out their sites for the entire Summer.

East Harbor State Park is a good choice for your base of operations, it's close to everything there. They do have some full hookup sites but you need to book early. There is a great sand beach there and it is close to Cedar Point. Don't miss Toft's ice cream just down the road
