How does one know their speed in reverse? I don't think the speedometer works? I suppose the tach, but I doubt one would be watching any gauges when doing this.

It is impressive, But I am not sure about it being 30MPH.

Digital speedos usually do.

^^^ There was times during the run at which the truck speed was limited by the governor. At redline my truck does 32 mph in reverse. I started from a dead stop, had to slow down some for a while in the middle to keep control and I slowed down at the end to make the corner. I measured the distance from my starting point to the corner and it was .4 miles so my average speed was only 24 miles per hour. I have to admit I haven't backed a trailer up that fast for a while and I was a little shaky.

Since this topic came up the first time I have looked at all my speedometers when backing up. 3 vehicles all analog gauges all work in reverse.

I’m impressed, I don’t even have the nerve to try.

A trailer gets its name because it "trails" the TV. Do we need a new word for the latest UTube sensation? Perhaps a "Frailer" for when the trailer leads the TV?

We could even start competions on tracks to see who is the fastest at it. This could be a next big thing... I am sure the concessions would sell a lot of beer to the fans..... And to the drivers.[emoticon]

Suggestions?

I think slow speed courses like that are a better idea than flat out drag races. I imagine with practice and specially designed trailers people would have the potential to back a trailer up at insanely high speeds on a straight track, but then when they loose it things would get really ugly.

Looks like where I grew up in North Dakota, home of the saying "you can watch your dog run away for two weeks". Nice backing.
