Is it ironic that the charging station needs a source of electricity? Does it really matter if that source is local or remote, diesel or coal fired?

The charging station itself is diesel powered, note the open exhaust weather cap near the front. I don't know if the trailer mounted unit behind it is another generator or a portable charging station.

It appears that this the original article the OP's photo came from:

Using diesel to charge EVs in the outback is greener than you think

It is the same scam for ethanol too. Takes more energy to produce it than the energy it contains for gasoline blending which make it less efficient. Makes sense right?

I was listening to a couple 10 ts yammering about Wind Farms (Windmill produced power) last night.. I almost reached for the mic but realized that they are beyond my ability to correct their ignorance. "They dry out the land".

What can I say.. There may be very good reasons to run that charging station on a diesel generator. Even if you have Mains power having a backup is a good thing. I've had to burn fuel to keep the lights on more than once back when I had a house. In fact it has become more and more common to have to do that as the system gets older and older and power companies do not do needed maintenance.

OK, the generator is "necessary" due to the lack of power lines in the area.
I can understand that.
But, has anybody considered how the fuel is delivered to that genset?
I really doubt that a diesel powered tank truck making frequent deliveries is very "green".
However, as in all things, ya do what ya gotta do, let the chips fall where they may, and don't worry about the irony...

Plus 90% of that car and charging station is made of ABS and other plastics.
