I'm more familiar with Windows, but getting better with Android. The tablet in question is a RCA Viking Pro. My question is: how do I delete items in the downloads folder? i don't see anything to click on to accomplish that task. Thanks in advance for your help.

The primary reason I went with Android over apple produces is kind of political in nature. And thus I won't go into it here.. but basically I'm opposed to something Apple did in the past. (That is all I will say)

However. Today I'm finding more and more and more reasons to dislike Apple products.. Example.. If I had an I-Phone it would want to hotspot as "John's_I-phone.. Normally not an issue but I have 3 computers here in the RV (4 actually) that can not connect to "John's phone. They want only numbers and letters in the SSID.
And there are other issues with using an I-phone as a hotspot as well.

But my Android.. Works like a charm. (Glad I am I went Android) .

There are additional recent issues that make the 'Droid the better choice as well. That said. There are things i do not like about the droids.. but .. Over all. I'd give 'em a 9. Apple a 5

Now if you have an I-Phone question..... Don't have one can't help you.

I did have an iPad, which I liked very much, but was stolen last spring along with my vehicle and never recovered. I paid around $500 for it years ago. I would have bought another, but didn't want to spend a lot of $$ again. So I went with an Android device instead. I still think the iPad was superior, just over priced. BTW, my fairly new smart phone is also an Android device (Samsung). ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, wa8yxm. Your suggestion did the trick. I had tried touching the icons, but evidently didn't hold my finger on long enough. Now I believe I'm almost an Android expert! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I also appreciate all the posts from you other folks, too.

Segue - Anyone shopping for a tablet, take a good look at the display, especially side by side with various models. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, 5se and 6 all use the same 10.5โ€ WQXGA Super AMOLED (1600X2560) display. IT IS AMAZING !

Even the low cost Amazon Fire 10.1 uses an IPS FHD (1920 x 1200) display.

AMOLED is the best display technology available and IPS is second best. Both are a big step up from standard LCD displays.

On my tablet there is a 3 dot icon at the top of the screen and if you use that and press "edit" then all the files on the screen get assigned a box and if you check the box(s) on the file(s) you want deleted then your press delete.

HOld on I have the same tablet.

Standard Android procedure for touch screen devices.

LONG PRESS (like 1 second or more) on one of the items to be deleted. This will open the delete/other actions menu with that item selected. you can tap other items to add them to the delete list. the Trash Can is top right on my brand new one. may be different location on older ones. But on mine it's top right. touch trash and I believe you'll get a requestor pop up. Confirm the deletion and poof they gone.

Also if you don't have a file manager App
Download one of the many that are on the Google play store
Play store app is already on your tablet
I recommend Astro file manager easy to use to delete rename move files etc

Have you tried just holding on the icon, not tapping, touch and hold. It may pop an option menu. That's how all mine work, not RCA Viking Pro, but Samsung, and KindleFire tablets.
