I am stuck in the Yukon at -40f
In a
92 Rockwood on a 91 F53 chassis gas engine
I have a few isues
- the ignition key lever internal to the column broke
- I removed the key and column collar and the broken alum piece
- I can manually move the rod that controls the ignition on and starter
BUT I suspect at these low temps some of the solenoids are stuck
1) The shift lock is stuck and I cannot get it out of park.
- the brake lock works
- I have tried the work around of brake on, turn on ignition, move down one detent. Shift to neutral. Still no luck
2) The starter will not kick in expect that the neutral safety switch is also having problems
So the questions:
Where is the shift lock solenoid located? I have been looking but at -40 F I cannot stay out there long. I would like to remove it for now.
I found the park and neutral switch can but I do not have the plug configuration to bypass the switch.
