Anyone with the Ford 6.2 Carrying TC

To tie in with my post on the 7.3 I’ve read mostly great things about the Ford 6.2.
This engine makes good power and seems to be a proven reliable design.
For 2020 you can get it in the F350 with either the 6 sp or 10 speed transmission.
I like the 7.3 but it’s not proven yet.
I think a 6.2 with 10 speed and 4:30 gears would have plenty of power to carry a TC and tow 4-5k lbs ??
The advantage would be going with a known performer and not having to buy the first year of a new engine design, although it’s so simple I can’t really see having too many issues with the 7.3.
What do you think?

Any updates from those with the 6.6/10speed? Or anyone with the 7.2?

6.6 only comes with 6 speed tranny. GM is behind the 8 ball on this.

Ford 6.2 and 7.3 come with ten speed trannys.

Sorry, mistype. Meant the 6.2/10 spd. Thanks. I'll try to correct that.

Pretty sure the 6.2 Ford is not offered with 10 speed yet, but ICBW.

I wouldn't expect significant mileage increase with a 10 speed behind the 6.2. Possibly under certain high load conditions where it can pull one gear better than a 6 speed, it will be a bit more efficient for the load, but otherwise, there's no advantage mileage wise.
Had 2 different 6.2s. Average about 13mpg in highway/commuting.
Small trailer = 9 mpg.
Big trailer = 8- mpg

Pulled a bit harder with 3.73s than a Vortec 6.0 with 4.10s.
New 6.2s should be very similar.

BTW, the 10 speed is standard in all F250 and F350 with the exception of the F250 with a 6.2.

I changed my mind on the 10 speed. I got my 2020 F350 XLT 4X4 SRW, 6.2 with the 10 speed. I ordered it, got it in 9 weeks, the only options being 11,300 GVWR, camper package, center console, cab lights, skid plates, and front mud flaps. The 10 speed is much nicer than I thought it would be. I assumed a lot of shifting but it will skip gears and you don't notice much of the shifting. Still learning the truck after coming off a 2000 Dodge 2500 diesel, 5 speed stick, but I think it will be a good truck. Getting around 11 mpg in town, no road trip or camper numbers yet.

I just bought a 2020 Ford 4x4, 6.2 gasser, long bed, SRW, 3.73. Put a Northstar 850SC on it. I was not sure what kind of MPG I would get but I am surprised it's so low. Only 1,500 miles on the truck, but looks like MPG with camper is about 11.3 or so.

Not bad.

One of our work trucks is a 2018 F-250 regular cab 4wd with a 6.2.

Towing a small boat I only barely got 8 mpg and it barely gets 12 mpg on the freeway empty.

It does have some pretty good get up and go.

I have seen between 8 and 12 mpg with my F450 traveling below 65mph. Wind seems to determine how low it goes. If your getting over 11 thats pretty amazing. Granted my camper is bigger. I am seriously considering a 7.3 to get my payload number up. With the lower cost of gas vs diesel, lower mpg might be a wash.

Thanks breeve.

11.3 mpg loaded up is pretty good for a gasser. Pretty sure I will get 6.2 with 4:30 rear end. Should be great combo for my needs...

I bought the truck specifically for hauling the camper. Kept my old Silverado for a grocery getter. So I won't be using the Ford for unladen trips.

Would love to see your unladen mpg...

I plan to order mine this month.
