What is the worst road you've ever traveled and why?

A couple of years ago we were leaving Las Vegas, NEW MEXICO trying to get south to I-40. Our GPS put us on Hwy 104. Trusting our GPS (never again) we didn't question 'Her". Figured it was one of her short cuts. Well let me tell you, Hwy 104 is one hundred and four miles of pure hell. Two lane, no where to turn around, mountain road with switchbacks (fun in a 40 footer towing) no guard rail, 8,9, and 10% grades. WHITE KNUCKLE all the way and all day with 10 and 15 mph curves. Unless you are a gutsy dare devil avoid Hwy 104 at all costs. It was a shear nightmare. What is your worst highway ever? Maybe you can serve as a warning as I hope I did.

GPS units are only as good as information inputted and the settings within the unit.
What is make and model of your GPS?
I found the less expensive Garmins lead you astray?

I think the worst I've traveled is HWY 10 and 50 across SW Colorado. I don't think the highway was that bad of shape but there was absolutely nothing to look at other than miles and miles of abandoned railroad track. Those highways too were another Google Maps shortcut.

The road in Bertha Creek Campground, a USFS park off Seward Hwy, AK. Even at a crawl, I lost half my dishes and a host of other things. I've driven on plenty of potholes but this one takes the cake.

Any local road during pothole season!

104 isn't the "real" mountains in NM. Try US-64 from Taos through Angle Fire and Eagle Nest heading to Raton towing. These roads are a challenge, but I'll take them any day over the interstates in Louisiana.

Alcan Hwy from Destruction Bay, YT to Tok, AK

225 Miles of frost heaves and even some gravel.

It was so bad I decided going back home to take “The Top of the World Hwy” from Chicken, AK to Dawson City, YT. The American side of that road is two lane gravel. Hewn into the side of cliffs with no guard rails or shoulder. Mesmerizing views but terrorizing when meeting gravel haulers coming down at you at two or three times your speed. There is literally no place to go. You just pull as close to the edge and stop praying they miss you.

NM 104 on Google Maps doesn't look all that bad, not with Terrain mode or Streetview. Yes, 2 lane, but mostly flat and straight. There is one 3 mile stretch of 6% grade down an escarpment, alot of 25 mph curves, but no switchbacks. And plenty of guard rails.
