Second AC worth it?

We live in Nebraska and it can get hot and humid.

Looking at buying a Grand Design Transcend 29TBS 35' long.

$1100 is cost to have installed. Worth it?

Does anyone wish they had a 2nd ac?

Yes. Ours has been fine until we stayed in a non shaded park in August in Florida. We broke a sweat sitting inside. Miserable outside. Ours isn't wired for a second unit or it would already be up there. In your usual shaded campsites, one is plenty.

If it is already set up, you can get onw for probably $600-$700 and drop it in yourself.

We replaced both of ours our self, with no a/c experience what so ever!

We have a Forest River Cherokee 274vfk that is a 34' model with the kitchen in the v-nose. It has a single 15,000 btu AC unit with ducted air. We had it in Georgia last summer on days with temps in the upper 90s and high humidity. It ran some pretty long cycles but it kept us quite comfortable. In our case, we see no need for a second unit.

Yes, you can run one AC IF you are not running 120 volt element in water heater if equipped.

We have two on our 38' toyhauler. Don't use both often but it sure is nice when we need them both. Well worth the investment I would say.

And a 2nd one as a backup.
After the first year we added a 2nd one and I think I paid around $1200 including the extra wall thermostat, so $1100 isn't out of line at all.

Somewhere around 30-35ft a 2nd really becomes necessary.

Weather you *need* it depends on a lot on the trailer's construction.

My TT is 38' overall with 4 slides. It's never had trouble cooling down quickly, with a single 15K BTU Coleman, even when I forgot to turn it on before leaving. My former 41' weekend warrior (with a single small slide) performed almost as well.

The trailer before that was a 29' Jayco, no slides, with a 13.5k BTU unit. It could barely keep up, and if you didn't keep it on, it would never cool things down.

That said... I do wish my trailer had 50-amp service, so that I could run the Hot Tub without a 2nd cord.

You might want to try to find a mobile RV tech who can also put them in and for a lot less. Let me check also for a lot less
